About Us

The Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology was a Center for Chemical Innovation funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation from 2012-2025 to carry out research to enable the development of sustainable, societally beneficial nanotechnologies.

The CSN incorporated researchers from 12 institutions: the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Hamers group), the University of Minnesota (Haynes & Carlson groups), Boston University (Cui group), Johns Hopkins University (Fairbrother and Hernandez groups), Princeton University (Feng group), University of California-Riverside (Giraldo group), University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Klaper group), Brookhaven National Lab (Mason group), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Murphy group), the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (Rosenzweig group), and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (White group).
